Usually a transparent, sometimes transluscent, slightly iridescent, milky white variety of feldspar, with white or light blue opalescent spots. Moonstone (also called rainbow moonstone) is a soft milky white stone, whitish-blue stone. The chips are between 5 to 8mm.
